It used to be common practice to make up a whole day’s feeds in advance and store them in the fridge. But because of the higher risk of contamination with salmonella and other bacteria in made-up bottles, the NHS now advises that all feeds are made freshly.

The key is that you want to retard any bacterial regrowth as much as possible so… make up your bottles using hot water ( 70 degrees) then rapidly cool them in a tub of cold water for about 10 minutes, then put them striaght in the back of the fridge.
